The regions of quasi-periodic motion around non-symmetric periodic orbits in the vicinity of the triangular equilibrium points
are studied numerically. First, for a value of the mass parameter less than Routh's critical value, the stability regions
determined by quasi-periodic motion are examined around the existing families of short (Ls
4) and long (Ll
4) period solutions. Then, for two values of μ greater than the Routh value, the unified family Lsl
4, to which, in these cases, Ls
4 and Ll
4 merge, is considered. It is found that such regions surround in general the linearly stable segments of the corresponding
families and become smaller as the mass ratio increases.

Light Detection and Ranging (Lidar) can generate three-dimensional (3D) point cloud which can be used to characterize horizontal and vertical forest structure, so it has become a popular tool for forest research. Recently, various methods based on top-down scheme have been developed to segment individual tree from lidar data. Some of these methods, such as the one developed by Li et al. (2012), can obtain the accuracy up to 90% when applied in coniferous forests. However, the accuracy will decrease when they are applied in deciduous forest because the interlacing tree branches can increase the difficulty to determine the tree top. In order to solve challenges of the tree segmentation in deciduous forests, we develop a new bottom-up method based on the intensity and 3D structure of leaf-off lidar point cloud data in this study. We applied our algorithm to segment trees in a forest at the Shavers Creek Watershed in Pennsylvania. Three indices were used to assess the accuracy of our method: recall, precision and F-score. The results show that the algorithm can detect 84% of the tree (recall), 97% of the segmented trees are correct (precision) and the overall F-score is 90%. The result implies that our method has good potential for segmenting individual trees in deciduous broadleaf forest. 相似文献

The October 21, 1766 earthquake is the most widely felt event in the seismic history of Trinidad and Venezuela. Previous works
diverged on the interpretation of the historical data available for this event. They associated the earthquake either with
the Lesser Antilles subduction zone, with strike-slip motion along El Pilar fault, or with intraplate deformation at the edge
of Guyana shield. Isoseismal areas are proposed after a new search and analysis of primary and secondary sources of historical
information. Two of the largest earthquakes of the twentieth century which occurred in the region, the 1968 (M
S 6.4, h = 103 km), and the 1997 (M
W 6.9, h = 25 km) events, for which both intensity data and instrumentally determined source parameters are available, are used to
calibrate the isoseismal areas and to interpret them in terms of source depth and magnitude. It is concluded that the large
extent of intensity values higher than V is diagnostic of the depth (85 ± 20 km) of the 1766 source, and of local amplifications
of ground motion due to soft soil conditions and to strong contrasts of impedance at the edge of Guyana shield. It is proposed
that the event occurred either in slab, or close to the bottom lithospheric interface between the Caribbean and South American
plates (∼11°N; ∼62.5°W). The value of the magnitude is estimated at 6.5 < M
S < 7.5 depending on the source depth and on the decay of ground motion as a function of distance. Deep and intermediate depth
earthquakes can induce important casualties in Trinidad, Venezuela, and Guyana, possibly more damaging than those induced
by shallower earthquakes along the strike of El Pilar Fault. 相似文献

The effect of small perturbations ε and ε
′ in the Coriolis and the centrifugal forces, respectively on the nonlinear stability of the triangular points in the restricted
three-body problem with variable mass has been studied. It is found that, in the nonlinear sense, the triangular points are
stable for all mass ratios in the range of linear stability except for three mass ratios, which depend upon ε, ε

We consider periodic halo orbits about artificial equilibrium points (AEP) near to the Lagrange points L
1 and L
2 in the circular restricted three body problem, where the third body is a low-thrust propulsion spacecraft in the Sun–Earth
system. Although such halo orbits about artificial equilibrium points can be generated using a solar sail, there are points
inside L
1 and beyond L
2 where a solar sail cannot be placed, so low-thrust, such as solar electric propulsion, is the only option to generate artificial
halo orbits around points inaccessible to a solar sail. Analytical and numerical halo orbits for such low-thrust propulsion
systems are obtained by using the Lindstedt Poincaré and differential corrector method respectively. Both the period and minimum
amplitude of halo orbits about artificial equilibrium points inside L
1 decreases with an increase in low-thrust acceleration. The halo orbits about artificial equilibrium points beyond L
2 in contrast show an increase in period with an increase in low-thrust acceleration. However, the minimum amplitude first
increases and then decreases after the thrust acceleration exceeds 0.415 mm/s2. Using a continuation method, we also find stable artificial halo orbits which can be sustained for long integration times
and require a reasonably small low-thrust acceleration 0.0593 mm/s2. 相似文献
